Wayne Dyer, Ph.D.
Staying On The Path
You can never get enough of what you don’t want.
The secret of abundance is to stop focusing on what you do not have, and shift your consciousness to an appreciation for all that you are and all that you do have.
The measure of your life will not be in what you accumulate, but in what you give away.
I cannot always control what goes on outside, but I can always control what goes on inside.
Every problem you have you experience in your mind. The solution to the problem is in the same place.
You control your emotions, so you do not have to explode with anger whenever someone else decides to behave in angry ways.
Those who seem to cause you the most anguish are those who remind you of what you believe is either lacking or wanting in yourself.
Arguing is really saying, “If you were really more like me, then I could like you better.”
If you expect to be upset, then you will seldom disappoint yourself.
You’re always alone, but you’re only lonely if you don’t like the person you’re alone with.
All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won’t succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.
Your reputation is in the hands of others. That’s what a reputation is. You can’t control that. The only thing you can control is your character.
You must come in contact with the empty space that lies within, not the form that encapsulates it.
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are.
If you believe that feeling bad or worrying long enough will change a past or future event, then you are residing on another planet with a different reality system.
The past is over for all of us. The future is promised to none of us. All we get is this one. That’s all we get.
I have recently discovered Wayne and love his advice. I struggle with underachieving and blog about my journey. I think that many people don’t live up to their potential (I have not been) but listening to Mr. Dyer makes it hard not to care.
